Welcome to the Victorian High Country

The Victorian High Country, straddling the Great Dividing Range, comprises a million acres of the most beautiful and challenging country Australia has to offer. Great jagged mountains with exposed grassy tops, twisted shaped snow gums, enormous expanses of rolling high plains, this country and it's ever changing beauty can take your breath away.

The Lovick family are among a small group of men and women who have lived and worked in this country for six generations. Pioneering the country in the early 1800's, they came following gold, built hotels and bred cattle. In 1967 Lovick's Mountain Trail Safaris, a pioneer in a new wave of adventure tourism, offered ordinary people the opportunity to experience the High Country first hand and to learn the values and traditions of the Mountain Cattlemen. In 1978 the Lovick family was immortalised through their involvement in the screening of the film "The Man From Snowy River" with Charlie Lovick accredited as "Master of Horse" and in 1987 when the second movie was made, Charlie taught Tom Burlinson to ride for the Snowy River Films.
