Push to the Bush December 11th - 15th December 2009

An unforgettable 5 days! - $1250pp

Our annual Cattle Drive is a great way to combine the thrill of working with cattle, taking them up to their summer grazing areas and also a great riding holiday, seeing the best of the high country.

We will camp at The 7 Mile the first night after starting the cattle on their way up the Howqua River Valley. The Valley is lush and beautiful at this time of year, the rivers are still rushing and the air is crisp and clear.

We will stay the next night in the Upper Jamieson at a beautiful camping spot alongside the Jamieson River.

Returning home via Mt Clear, King Billy and Mt Lovick with spectacular views across the Great Divide and the High Plains beyond, to the Woolly butt forests and the rainforests along the Howqua River.

FEATURE RIDE
28th December 2009 - 6 January 2010
$2200

This is it, the big one for 2009 - 2010 and we are all looking forward to it. Our feature ride this year will visit nearly all historic huts on our side of the ranges. You will hear the stories and imagine what it was like when this country was being discovered and settled. We will start in Merrijig taking in Craig's hut before descending into the Howqua Valley and camping at Bindaree.

Travel from Bindaree under Square Face Ginny to the Bluff Hut for lunch and the afternoon will see the start of our magnificent country before camping at Lovick's Hut.
From Lovick's to Mt. Magdala and Mt. Howitt and the Howitt High Plains. Spectacular scenery every part of the way and we camp at Howitt Hut. Celebrate New Years Eve with the ghosts of Wonnangatta murders...

This day we will ride from Howitt High Plains to King Billy, staying at our hut for the night. Enjoying the next day's ride over Mt Clear into the Jamieson River, for a night under the stars. The next day is spent following the tracks of the Goldminers, through the lick hole creek into the Howqua Valley. Finally we travel along the Howqua River to The Hideout for our last fun night.
