"The Man from Snowy River"

The famous downhill scene

"There was movement at the the station, for the word had passed around.
That the colt from old Regret had got away.
And had joined the wild bush horses - he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray."

The opening lines of the Man from Snowy River by A.B (Banjo) Paterson

It was this ballad that inspired the movies " The Man From Snowy River".

The high country, the horses, the cattle and the passion of the men and women who called this country home combined with this ballad to produce this classic sequel of movies. The Man From Snowy River captured the essence of a major part of the Australian modern culture and history.

For the movie to present a true and accurate depiction of the high country it required people who knew the land, the horses, the hardships, the joys, those who lived and breathed the High Country.

Enter the Lovick's.............

The Lovick family has worked the High Country for six generations and no other family could have offered their expertise. The Lovick's had the responsibility of finding the horses and the men to ride them. Without their input the movie would not have been the authentic film that it is.

We are still developing this page, come back soon to learn more of Charlie's achievements and the history of Denny the famous buckskin horse that had such a pivotal role in the movie.
